Die konsequente Verwendung der Zeiten wird dadurch erschwert, dass es die Verlaufsform ([[Englisch/Grammatik/Tenses/Present Progressive|Present Progressive]]) im Deutschen so nicht gibt.


Deshalb muss klar analysiert werden, ob Handlungen und Tätigkeiten regelmäßig stattfinden (oft durch [[Englisch/Grammatik/Adverbs/Adverbs of Frequency|''adverbs of Frequency'']] angezeigt) oder ob betont werden soll, dass etwas gerade oder nur vorübergehend geschieht (Signalwörter: Look! Listen! just, now &hellip;).

Im  Deutschen werden alle Verben {{wpde|Konjugation (Grammatik)|konjugiert}}, d.h. je nach Geschlecht, Anzahl und Zeit verändert. Im Englischen gibt es nur das ''he,she,it-s''.

Nur das Verb "to be" hat auch im Present Simple mehrere Formen (am, is, are).

Zur besseren Übersicht sind in der Tabelle die Personalpronomen vor die jeweilige Verbform gestellt:
